Discover what you can do to stay safe during a power outage

Prepare for a power outage now

In 2003, over 50 million people lost power in what was the biggest power outage in U.S. history. Power outages can happen anywhere, to anyone, so it’s important to know what do. Here are some tips to help you get started:

1) Build an emergency kit and make a family communications plan

2) During an outage, use flashlights as opposed to candles to avoid the risk of fire

3) After a power outage, get rid of unsafe food. When in doubt, throw it out!
