Now Available on One Compendium DVD! NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions and Supporting Materials (FEMA P-753 DVD)
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sent this bulletin at 11/21/2014 03:45 PM ESTFor more than 30 years, FEMA has been developing and disseminating technical guidance to improve the seismic safety of new and existing buildings, one of its responsibilities under the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP).
An important objective of NEHRP is to support the improvement of seismic standards and building codes and to advocate for their adoption and enforcement. The NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures. 2009 Edition (FEMA P-750) is an important resource that translates new knowledge, research results, and design methods for the national standards and building codes. With the Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC), FEMA also has published three supporting documents for the 2009 Provisions, all of which are now included on the new 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures: A Compendium (FEMA P-753 DVD):
-
Earthquake-Resistant Design Concepts: An Introduction to the NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures (FEMA P-749): This companion guide to FEMA P-750 provides a non-technical and readily understandable explanation of the intent and requirements of the seismic design criteria found in the Nation’s building codes and standards.
-
NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures. 2009 Edition (FEMA P-750): In a series first published in 1985, the 2009 edition marks the seventh update of this key resource document. FEMA P-750 adopts by reference the national design load standard, ASCE/SEI 7-05, which allows the 2009 Provisions to resume its role as a research-to-practice resource for introducing new knowledge, innovative concepts, and design methods to improve national seismic standards and codes.
-
2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions: Design Examples (FEMA P-751 CD): This resource provides a series of design examples based on the 2009 Provisions for different types of structures, types of construction materials, and specific structural elements. Design examples in FEMA P-751 CD are provided for steel framed buildings; structural steel; reinforced concrete; precast concrete; composite steel and concrete; masonry; wood design; seismically isolated structures; non-building structure design; and design for nonstructural components.
- 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions: Training and Instructional Materials (FEMA P-752 CD): FEMA P-752 CD presents a series of PowerPoint slides and instructional materials aligned with the design examples in FEMA P-751 CD. This resource also includes new units on Ground Motions, Composite/Steel Construction, Pre-Cast Design, and Seismically Isolated Structures, as well as an introduction to the latest versions of NONLIN and EQ Tools, two free software programs for the computation of dynamic response analysis of simple linear and nonlinear structures and design earthquake ground motions.
