Fish wheels, used as a traditional method of fishing in Alaska, were damaged, destroyed or washed away by the flooding along the Yukon River and its tributaries this spring. The fish wheels must be repaired or replaced as soon as possible so that Alaskan Natives can resume harvesting fish that support their subsistence way of life before the fish stop running and winter sets in.
