USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is phasing in the use of electronic barcoded shipping labels for Plant Protection and Quarantine and Biotechnology Regulatory Services permits. APHIS has created a cost and time saving process for emailing new electronic non-gummed barcoded labels, which will eliminate the need to mail labels. The new shipping labels will be emailed to the permittee as an attached PDF.

The new labels have many advantages:

  • Electronic shipping labels will be sent to you within minutes of your approved label request and will include detailed shipping instructions.
  • You can also request additional shipping labels as needed via email. You can forward shipping labels electronically to your exporters.

Four labels maximum are generated per page to fit on 8 ½” x 11” sheets of paper in landscape orientation. Labels must be printed in color and securely attached to the exterior of each package using clear tape.
