In late June and early July 2015, USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the detection of three adult male old world bollworms (OWB) in Manatee County, Florida. These are the first detections of OWB in the continental United States. APHIS is working with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to survey surrounding areas for OWB to determine if this was an isolated incident. At this time, no additional bollworms have been found.
