Giant African Snail Found in New Area in Miami-Dade County in Florida
APHIS established the giant African snail quarantine zone Y in Miami-Dade County on June 24, 2015.
For a description of zone Y, go to the Giant African Snail Program Information Web site http://www.aphis.usda.gov/plant-health/gas-quarantine and look under the headings Program Documents and Quarantine Map.
For the notification as well as a map of the regulated areas, look under the heading Federal Notices and Federal Orders and click on APHIS Establishes Additional Regulated Area in Florida for Giant African Snail (Lissachatina fulica, formerly Achatina fulica) (06/24/15).
The giant African snail is also known as the giant African land snail.
