Happy Holidays!          Issue: 8

As part of the historic 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps celebration at the White House on September 12, President Obama announced Employers of National Service.

The initiative seeks to encourage employers from private, public, and nonprofit sectors to hire AmeriCorps and Peace Corps alumni.  Some major companies have already signed up, including Comcast and NBC Universal, CSX, Disney, the City of Nashville, and more.

On Tuesday, December 9, join our Employers of National Service Day!  See the sample posts below for ways to share on your favorite social media networks.

What a Year!

Wendy Spencer, CEO of CNCS, with AmeriCorps members

Hello Alums!

It's been an incredible year, two decades in the making. I'm nearly speechless, but there's so much to say. Are you as moved as I am by what we've accomplished?

I really want to send you heartfelt thanks for making our 20th year so successful. Being at the White House on September 12 alongside 1,000 AmeriCorps members, alumni, and supporters was an exhilarating experience -- made even more amazing because so many of you were participating simultaneously across the country.

And I'm especially excited about our new Employers for National Service initiative that the President announced that day. It's one great way for you to showcase the skills you learned and the talents you brought to AmeriCorps. So please help us spread the word on December 9 by sharing the link go.usa.gov/VpZ3 and the hashtag #ServiceEmployers. Help us recruit the companies and organizations who support you!

Have a wonderful holiday season, and keep getting things done.

Warmest Regards,

Wendy Spencer, CEO
Corporation for National and Community Service
