Team CNCS-

The message below about Employers of National Service went out to CNCS stakeholders today, including grantees, sponsors, mayors, and others. I encourage you to use this message as a way to share information with your contacts about Employers of National Service.

We are interested in recruiting as many diverse employers as possible to join this effort. Corporations, non-profits, institutions of higher education and foundations of all sizes are encouraged to become Employers of National Service as well as state and local governments.

In addition to the email below, you can find materials about Employers of National Service on our website at NationalService.gov/Employers. If you have a lead or an organization that is interested in signing up then you can email employers@cns.gov or Jed Herrmann directly.

Please coordinate any outreach to grantees or sponsors with your supervisor and if you are contemplating reaching out to a corporation, non-profit or foundation where CNCS is likely to have an existing high level relationship then please contact Jed in advance so he can ensure proper coordination.

Thank you for your efforts to enhance the national service talent pipeline. As President Obama said on Friday: “If you’re an employer who wants to hire talented, dedicated, patriotic, skilled, tireless, energetic workers, look to AmeriCorps, look to the Peace Corps… Citizens who perform national service are special.  You want them on your team.” Not surprisingly, I strongly agree and encourage you to spread the word!

Warmest Regards,

Wendy

President Obama Launches Employers of National Service

Dear Friend,

As part of the AmeriCorps 20th anniversary celebration at the White House on Friday, President Obama announced Employers of National Service, a new initiative to build a talent pipeline to connect AmeriCorps and Peace Corps alumni with leading employers from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

As part of this announcement the White House released a list of charter employers. We ask that you join them and have your organization become an Employer of National Service as well as share information about this initiative with other employers.

Please visit NationalService.gov/Employers for more information and to sign up. Any employer that signs up by December 31, 2014 will be considered a charter member.

Through this initiative, employers will have new access to a dedicated, highly qualified, and mission-oriented pool of potential employees and national service alumni will have additional opportunities to apply their skills in the workplace. The 900,000 Americans who have participated in AmeriCorps since 1994 and the 215,000 who have participated in the Peace Corps are people who are motivated, flexible, innovative, and outcome-oriented.

Become an Employer of National Service and have them on your team! Thanks for your support of national service.

Warmest regards,

Wendy Spencer, CEO
Corporation for National and Community Service
