Honoring Those Who Serve, on Veterans Day and Beyond

Dear Grantees and Partners,

Last year more than 23,600 AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers provided service to over 783,000 veterans and military family members. Throughout November, we will turn our attention to telling that powerful story.

The Corporation for National and Community Service will spend November highlighting the important service of AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers in support of veterans and military families, especially those who are themselves veterans.

During the Veterans Day holiday, many of you will participate in National Veteran Corps pinning ceremonies to recognize veterans who continue to serve as AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers, as well as those members and volunteers who are serving veterans and their families through national service programs.  If you are having a National Veteran Corps pinning ceremony (on Veterans Day or another date) and have not yet registered it, please register it now.

If you need ideas for your pinning ceremony, our toolkit may be helpful.

Along with that tookit, you can also find our press release/media advisory templates for promoting your event and a pinning statement that can be read during the presentation of pins at ceremonies.

A follow-up message will include specific social media guidance for National Veteran Corps Day, but until then please continue to highlight your veteran stories by using #VetCorps on all of your social media posts. Remember, including a photo is a good practice! And please continue to share your veteran and military family stories with us at Engagement@cns.gov.

Thank you for helping to share this important story of service.

In Service,

Rhonda Taylor
