Welcome to the first
Employers
of National Service newsletter, a tool for sharing resources and best
practices as we further develop our network. We’re excited to continue
building momentum for this nationwide initiative – and you, as our members,
are at the heart of this work. We thank you for your commitment to AmeriCorps
and Peace Corps alumni.
To date, more than 200 employers have joined, representing businesses, nonprofit
organizations, institutions of higher education, school districts, state and
local governments, and federal agencies. In total, this diverse group
represents more than one million employees.
Earlier this spring, the President’s Proclamation for National Volunteer Week highlighted the role of Employers of National Service in strengthening our workforce. And, on May 1, the White House honored three of our charter members – greeNEWit, The Idaho Food Bank, and the City of Philadelphia – at a Champions of Change event. Thank you to all who submitted nominations, and congratulations to our Champs!

To better document
the value that Employers of National Service provides to both its members and
national service alumni, we will be conducting an annual survey beginning in early 2016. Topics include:
1) An update on what your organization implemented
in the previous calendar year as an Employer of National Service.
2) A quantifiable summary of your recruitment and hiring activity of AmeriCorps and Peace Corps alumni. We’d ideally like to know the number of AmeriCorps/Peace Corps alumni applicants, interviews, and hires in the previous calendar year. If available, please report AmeriCorps and Peace Corps separately.
3) Your organization's future goals and plans as an Employer of
National Service.
4) An opportunity to update contact information
and other records.
We’d appreciate your input as we finalize the survey. Please share any feedback on these items to Marianne Sierocinski at msierocinski@cns.gov by June 15, 2015.
