Shine a light on Small Business Saturday

Night Time Enterprise Zone

Get ready for an exciting event along Walthamstow High Street on Small Business Saturday, 7 December.

Artillery, the local arts group behind the annual E17 Art Trail, is inviting you to come up with creative ideas for the programme, responding to the diverse nature of businesses on the High Street.

We're looking for people with bright ideas to deliver a project which will shine a light on the windows of shops and restaurants after dark, with the opportunity for installations and exhibitions to remain on display up to Christmas.

This is part of the Night Time Enterprise Zone pilot project which is being jointly funded by the Mayor of London and Waltham Forest Council.

Apply by Thursday 31 October  2019, 9am .

Let us know what you want to see in the Walthamstow High Street Night Time Enterprise Zone

Following the announcement that Walthamstow High Street is the London's first-ever Night Time Enterprise Zone pilot, we will be running a series of engagement events during October and November with local people and businesses.

If you are a community organisation or run a business on the High Street, we will be calling in to run through a short survey with you or to arrange a longer interview about your perceptions and ideas for Walthamstow High Street.

The results will be used to look at ways we can support local organisations and businesses to stay open later into the evening and improve access to shops and services after 6pm.

Share your memories of Granada/EMD

EMD cinema

As restoration begins on the former Granada/EMD cinema in Hoe Street, we would love to hear your memories of the much-loved building.

Did you watch bands like The Beatles and The Who at the Granada? Were you a regular at Saturday Morning pictures or did you go to the EMD as a child?

Did you work at the venue and have some behind the scenes stories to share.

Email us your memories and pictures at the link below, writing 'Granada/EMD memories' in the subject line.

We aim to include as many as possible in an official archive of the Grade II* listed community building as it enters its next exciting phase.

Rosebank Villas artwork begins

Rosebank Villas mural 181019

If you take the Rosebank Villas short cut from Walthamstow Central Station to the High Street, you’ve probably noticed the new artwork appearing on the walls.

This is the first stage of work following the design competition last year.

Watch out for more changes that are on their way in the Town Centre.

Solar panels save money and protect the environment

Solar Together image

Residents across Waltham Forest are coming together as part of a group buying scheme to install solar panels on their houses.

Residents can now join Solar Together London, the solar photovoltaic (PV) group-buying scheme. It is free to register and there is no obligation to install panels.

Solar Together London helps Waltham Forest homeowners feel confident they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from a vetted installer which will boost local renewable energy generation.

The new scheme follows three highly successful schemes run across the country last year which led to over 1,650 installations with Waltham Forest having 936 registrants last year.

Solar Together is one of the many ways Waltham Forest is acting to counter the Climate Emergency, declared by the local authority this summer.

Find out whether you’re eligible for the scheme and register here.
