BMXercise group is proving popular

Cheney Row Park BMXercise 260419 Katie Clare

The first BMXercise class on Friday 26 April proved a great success with nine women coming along to take part.

Local resident, Katie Clare, told us: “To be honest, I went along because the advert said it was an exercise class, working on the core, etc. I guess I was thinking of water aerobics! Plus it was very close to my house, affordable and I wanted to meet other local people; so I thought ‘why not?’

“I didn’t realise it was going to be pure BMX which I actually know little about! However it was great! I went back the next day to see how the teenagers do it.

“It was fun, exciting, and we were a diverse friendly group. The instructors were great and I’ve already booked for a couple more classes.”

The classes run on Fridays from 9am to 10am, in partnership with COG, BMXercise sessions for women who want to try or take up BMX biking.

The first session is free and then the cost is £3 per session. It's a great way to meet like-minded women, as well as getting fit, and having fun in a friendly environment!

All equipment, such as bikes, helmets, and gloves are provided; all we ask is that you wear suitable footwear, long sleeves and long trousers that you feel comfortable riding in.

Use the code "FIRSTFREE" to get your first session free.

Under-10 BMX sessions launch this month

Two BMX riders at Cheney Row Park

We are supporting COG to launch BMX sessions for boys and girls under 10 years of age from 3pm to 5pm on Saturdays, starting on Saturday 25 May 2019.

COG already runs training sessions for young people aged 10 to 16 years wanting to develop their BMX bike riding skills on Saturdays, from 1pm to 3pm, using the special BMX track at Cheney Row Park.

The aim is to create Waltham Forest's first BMX team to enter the London Youth Games later this year.

Please let COG know if you will be at the training session.

All equipment, such as bikes, helmets, and gloves are provided; all we ask is that you wear suitable footwear, long sleeves and long trousers that you feel comfortable riding in.

Places should be reserved by emailing COG
