As well as providing 91 new homes for local people, the Council’s plans for developing Juniper House, in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, include providing a 53-place pre-school nursery with its own play-area at the back of the site, new shops and a pocket park at the front along Hoe Street.

That total includes 32 affordable homes including 19 for social rent and 13 for shared ownership, with some of these being three and four bedroom properties suitable for families. We are intent on ensuring that our housing developments meet the needs of local people and this scheme is part of our wider commitment to provide our residents with the best amenities and high quality housing.

On Monday 22 October residents dropped in to Walthamstow Library to see the changes made to the proposals following the consultation with them in July this year – several of those suggestions from residents have been put in to the new designs including improved safety and security for residents, appointing a landscape architect to work with residents to create a Pocket Park, improved planting and noise reduction work on the podium level,  reducing the height of the nursery building and removing overlooking of properties at 35 to 41 First Avenue.

A planning application is due to be submitted in November or December this year – we will let you know the details on our web page and through a Juniper House email newsletter.

But before we submit that application we want to give residents another chance to comment on the proposals.

You can comment by email but the deadline for us to receive your views is 5pm on Wednesday 31 October 2018.
