The industry made it clear in the consultation responses that a simplified structure for tourism in Wales was needed and a closer relationship with Visit Wales. We’re confident that our new regional model will allow us to do this - and do it well.
Our regional teams will be strongly aligned to our grading team, TISS and wider on the Partnerships and Marketing side. This is an exciting time for all of us, a chance to make a real difference in the regions and allow us to focus on delivering the 10% growth for the industry by 2020 as outlined in our strategy Partnership for Growth.
Focus for the next 6 months for the regional team will be to maintain an effective relationship with key regional tourism stakeholders and support the development of Destination Management in Wales, building on the work the Regional Tourism Partnerships had been leading for the past few years. Looking ahead to next financial year, the regional fora which are to be set up will work closely with us prioritise where the budget is allocated in the regions.
The regional team will be out and about at local industry events and meetings from October onwards.
