Thank you for your patience

Over the Christmas and New Year period some of our bin collections were disrupted due to the bad weather.

Our Waste and Street Scene colleagues worked together to try and collect any missed bins as soon as they could and we thank you for your patience during this time.

In instances of bad weather - please leave your bin out as usual and we will empty it as soon as we can.

Side waste - are you recycling as much as you can?

Side waste

Over Christmas our Waste Teams picked up on average an extra 88 tonnes of residual waste each day.

This amount of extra waste can delay our collections as it means more trips to unload our vehicles.

We know most households have extra waste during Christmas but are you recycling as much as you can?

Did you get a Tassimo coffee machine for Christmas?

Tassimo

Instead of putting your Tassimo t-discs in the bin - why not recycle them and help a local children's charity?

Playworks Nottingham has set up a Tassimo t-disc collection point at the Alfred Street North premises, Nottingham, NG3 1AE. Members of the public can drop them off on Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm.

The t-discs will be recycled into generic plastic products such as watering cans and waste bins.

Ever thought about composting at home?

Composting Image

We have received some calls recently enquiring about composting and how to do it effectively at home.

It is really easy to compost at home. Not only does it reduce the waste going into your bin, it also provides free nourishment for your garden to boost your vegetables and flower beds.

Composters can be purchased locally at most garden centres and if you would like some help getting started we have produced a handy guide to help you get the most out of your composter.

What would you like to see?

Day of Action image

It's that time where we look forward to the year ahead and how we can maintain our status of Britain's Cleanest City.

There are many things that we would like to tackle, such as dog fouling and fly tipping in neighbourhoods, which can still be an issue.

What would you like to see? Do you have any ideas on how to improve your neighbourhood?

Please let us know by emailing mailto:michelle.lawson@nottinghamcity.gov.uk
