Nottingham Tennis Centre Open Weekend
13-14 February FREE

Nottingham Tennis Centre is opening its doors this weekend with an invitation to the whole community to come and experience the facilities on offer for free.

As well as junior and adult tennis coaching sessions, visitors can use the state of the art gym facilities, take part in fitness classes, and relax in the steam and sauna rooms. Those wanting to see how fit they actually are can have a Body MOT with an expert gym instructor.

Festival set to get Nottingham curious about science & technology

SCIENCE buskers, a pop-up planetarium and space-themed sensory pods are just some of the exciting activities aiming to ignite the imagination of young people in Nottingham.

The Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosityhelps people to discover the joys of science and technology over the half-term week (Friday 12 to Friday 19 February 2016).

There's lots of free activities at three city centre venues and in city neighbourhoods. The activities are for all ages but especially children, young people and their families.

Low carbon vehicle presentation and exhibition

The third in a series of free events exploring opportunities within Nottingham’s emerging clean technology sector takes place on Wednesday 17 February.

The event focuses on the transition which is already taking place from “early adopter” electric vehicles, to hybrids, followed by plug-in hybrids, mass-market electric vehicles and the greater use of hydrogen fuel cell electric and gas powered vehicles (known as Ultra Low Emission Vehicles or ULEVs).

Sporting fun across the city this half term

School’s Out offers 8 to 15 year olds living in the city, the chance to try out a range of sports and play board games as well as trying their hand at arts and crafts during half term (15-19 February 2016).

Sports sessions delivered by Notts County – Football in the Community coaches include: badminton, basketball, cricket, dodgeball, football, handball, hockey, rounders, athletics, mini tennis, table tennis and netball.

Sessions run from 9am to 4pm and cost £1 per day. (There is an additional charge of £1.40 for those wishing to swim at Nottingham City Leisure Centres. Swimming costs £1.50 at Portland Centre) There is no pool at Minver Crescent.

Greening Grey Britain for health and happiness

People in Nottingham are invited to join a national campaign to turn grey spaces into green ones.  The Royal Horticultural Society ‘Greening Grey Britain’ campaign highlights how gardens and green spaces improve health and happiness – and encourages everyone to start with their own neighbourhood.
