Today's Forecast

Sunny/clear spells and occasional light to moderate wintry showers of rain, sleet and snow through this afternoon and evening. The showers will mostly be of rain and sleet through the afternoon but turning increasingly to sleet and snow during the evening. No accumulation of snow is expected during the afternoon but there could be up to 1cm from any heavier snow showers this evening and for the start of the night. The main risk period of snow showers and snow accumulation looks to be between 1800-0000 hours. It is then expected to be dry with clear spells overnight. RST's falling below freezing for a time tonight under those clear spells and perhaps also during the evening where snow showers fall. Cloud cover spreads in from the west towards the end of the night, which should lift RST's back up above freezing before daybreak. Light outbreaks of rain are then expected to start by about 0800 in the morning

Snow Summary

There is a risk of some light to moderate sleet and snow showers this afternoon but no snow accumulation is expected from those showers. Heavier showers during this evening and the start of the night will be more likely to be of snow and could cause some local accumulations of up to 1cm even to low levels. The main risk of snow should be between 1800-0000 hours

 

Outlook for the next four days (forecasts run from midday to midday)
Sunday Sunday: Cloudy wet and windy during the afternoon possibly persisting into the first part of the night. Generally cloudy for most of the night but some good clear spells by dawn giving a bright start to Monday. RSTs will remain above freezing

Monday: Windy and becoming cloudy with the odd spot of rain during the afternoon, but with some clear periods developing overnight. However RSTs are expected to remain above freezing. Remaining windy overnight with some cloudiness developing by dawn

Wednesday

Tuesday: A cloudy afternoon and evening with some scattered showers developing overnight. Some of these showers could be wintry in nature and RSTs may fall to just below freezing. During Wednesday morning it will reamain cloudy but become drier.
Wednesday: Cloudy and windy for the afternoon, but the winds will ease overnight with RSTs falling to near freezing
