Do you have an interest in Nottingham’s local heritage, with an ability and enthusiasm to learn more?

We are looking for people who can provide a high quality of customer service to all library users in the Local Studies library. As the first point of contact for adults and children using Local Studies, you will effectively help and guide them to use the Local Studies resources. You will ensure the collection is used in a safe and secure way, as well as be able to respond effectively to enquiries about the collection. You will also contribute to the maintenance and development of the Local Studies collection.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. You will need to feel comfortable in a forward facing role, helping customers to effectively access the Local Studies collection.

2. You will help customers use a variety of equipment, from computers to photocopiers to more specialised Local Studies equipment

3. You will be happy working in an organised way, with a keen attention to detail, whether with paper based or digital material.

4. You will be willing and able to learn on the job

To investigate and respond to queries in relation to Penalty Charge and Fixed Penalty Notices either by telephone or in writing including preparing criminal prosecution files and case histories.  Present evidence in person at Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings or give evidence in court as appropriate.

Liaise with relevant officers in respect of witness statements and verify accuracy of details of PCN/FPN's to enforce payment.  Carrying out cash receipting and banking of monies received.

To work as part of a team putting team preferences before own. Working in a confidential environment .To be able to learn about a subject in a short period of time from a position of zero knowledge.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to communicate to a high standard both verbally and in writing dealing with contentious issues and  irate citizens
2.Good IT skills and the ability to quickly learn how to use specialist in house software
3. Ability to work on own personal initiative and with minimum supervision working accurately to meet deadlines
4. Strong self-motivation together with a flexible and committed approach to work

Working in partnership with Nottinghamshire Police to create a safe and clean environment across Nottingham City, a number of exciting opportunities have arisen in Nottingham City Council’s Community Protection department.

As a Community Protection Officer you will perform a unique and innovative role.

You will build strong links with your communities and deal with local issues at a local level; your neighbourhoods will know you and you’ll know them.

As a CPO, each day is different to the one before. This isn’t a desk job; you will spend 85% of your time out on the streets ensuring you're visible and proactively interacting with the community. You will work a shift pattern including weekends and evenings for which you will receive enhanced pay for.  You will conduct street patrols within designated areas of the City, aimed at tackling criminal activity, dealing with environmental crime and anti-social behaviour using delegated powers, acting as a capable guardian of the City.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Appreciation of the legislation and skills necessary in using enforcement powers (issuing fixed penalty notices) including the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014

• Ability to deal with enforcement situations tactfully and diplomatically.

• Written communication skills in order to record actions.

• Ability to keep manual and computerised records.

2). Assessment centre (observation, written and role play)

To be responsible for administration of the misuse and abuse of Blue Badges and a variety of on street parking permits. To liaise extensively with authorised Officers and internal departments with misuse and abuse of badges and permits. Investigate and compile reports and case files for prosecutions. To support the Compliance and Fraud Officer at PACE interviews and give evidence at court to support Blue Badge prosecutions as and when required.
