Today's Forecast

Rather cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain possible this afternoon. Rain will die away with some clear spells developing this evening, although the continued breeze will keep temperatures above zero, also thicker cloud will spread in from the south through the early hours which will allow Road Surface Temperatures (RSTs) to recover. Generally dry Friday morning, however the odd shower is possible by midday. Minimum RSTs plus 3.

Outlook for the next four days (forecasts run from midday to midday)
Friday

Turning cloudy soon after midday on Friday with scattered showers, locally heavy and with a risk of hail and thunder, moving south across the area from 1300hrs. The showers will continue through the first half of the night with a risk of some sleet in heavier showers, however no accumulations are expected. It will also be breezy. Showers generally easing by midnight, with long clear spells following. A significantly colder night than during the autumn so far with RSTs falling close to or just below freezing quite widely, giving a risk of a few icy patches by the morning. Cold with sunny periods and a fresh northerly breeze on Saturday morning, with a low risk of isolated hail, sleet or snow showers (no accumulations expected). Minimum RSTs plus 1.

Saturday

Dry, but cold with sunny periods and a fresh north-westerly breeze on Sunday afternoon.Long clear spells overnight allowing temperatures to fall below freezing and widespread ice and frost to form. Becoming breezier again on Sunday morning, but expected to be dry. Minimum RSTs minus 1.

Sunday

and

Monday

Staying cold with rather cloudy conditions and a risk of sleet or snow showers to low levels, this risk reducing later in the day. Becoming dry on Sunday night with long clear periods developing leading to a widespread frost as RSTs fall below freezing by the end of the night and some patchy icy stretches. Minimum RSTs minus 1. Staying dry and bright on Monday morning. Turning cloudier and less cold from the north-west during the afternoon with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading in overnight, accompanied by strong, potentially gale force winds and hill fog. Rain clearing through on Tuesday morning, but remaining windy. Minimum RSTs zero.
