The Education Improvement Board (EIB) has launched its consultation on plans to improve education outcomes in the city.
The EIB has a ten-year plan to improve schools in Nottingham and is now consulting with head teachers, teachers, governors, parents and the wider public on the proposals.
The board, made up of city leaders and education professionals, believes a long-term vision and plan is required for Nottingham to deliver a world-class education service which serves its young people and families.
Representatives from Nottingham and the East Midlands business community, higher education establishments and the City Council are in China to seek to create greater trade, research and investment links.
They are visiting Ningbo, with which Nottingham has a ten-year sister relationship and where the University of Nottingham has the only western university campus in China.
The free hire scheme was put in place to encourage more people to use a bike for travelling around the city. This proved very popular – so popular in fact that at times there was a shortage of bikes available to hire. In total the fleet of 500 Citycard cycles were hired more than 5,800 times in the last 12 months, with a total of 90,000 hire hours recorded.
Extra trams will be running on this evening as local people flock to Nottingham’s annual free Bonfire Night celebrations at the Forest Recreation Ground.
