DfE are seeking views on proposals for newly qualified level
2 or 3 early years staff to hold a PFA certificate.
The
consultation proposes to make it a requirement, in addition to existing EYFS
requirements, that newly qualified early years staff (with a full and relevant
level 2 or level 3 childcare qualification) must have either a full PFA or an
emergency PFA certificate (new shorter training) before they can be included in
the required adult: child ratios in an early years setting (including private,
voluntary and independent providers; and schools).
