To hold a managable case-load of complex presentaitons such as self-harm, eating distress, anxiety, suicidal behaviours.

To support the service SPA (Single Point of Access), screening and making decisions on appropriate interventions.

To offer CAMHS Consultations to the wider network.

To complete risk assessments as part of the Social Care & CAMHS Joint Protocol.

To share good practice and consultation to other CAMHS Practitioners.

To identify and manage safeguarding concerns and act appropriately.

To have a good knowledge of the Mental Health Act and use this appropriately.

To complete joint assessments with Specialist CAMHS.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Hold a core qualification as a registered health profession such as a high intensity therapist, cognitive behaviour therapist, clinical psychologist or a psychotherapist.

- Experience of working within a Specialist CAMH Service clinical setting is essential.

- Provide specialist assessment and therapy service to children with moderate to complex psychological problems referred into CAMHS.

- Ensure clinical interventions are implemented in line with the latest NICE guidelines for psychological interventions.

It is expected that you will have the capacity to work across various city locations.

We are seeking to appoint three MST CAN therapists with significant experience of working effectively with families with multiple problems, challenging behaviours and a recent history of physical abuse and / or neglect issues. You will be able to evidence considerable success in engaging hard to reach families. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be able to remain calm and have the ability to defuse difficult and sometimes volatile situations.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Duties include assessment, treatment and collaborating with families, children and wider stakeholders. Therapists will function as part of an MST CAN team and will participate in weekly team supervision and consultation. Periodical on-call 24 hour coverage will be required (one week in three).

This post is funded for 12 months and is a P/T position - 24 hours.

JOB SUMMARY:

The post will be held within the SHARP (Self-harm Awareness & Resource Project) Team and the focus of the work will be supporting children and young people who present with self-harm and/or suicidal behaviours.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Support children and young people through individual therapeutic work and also group work.

• Complete self-harm risk assessments and identify appropriate interventions which will help reduce self-harm.

• Support other front-line health services using a creative approach to help increase engagement of children and young people who self-harm.

• Support SHARP Practitioners in the delivery of monthly school SHARP Clinics.
