JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this challenging and innovative role is action oriented - making things happen to get people into work in Nottingham North by creating and accessing employment and training opportunities. It has two complementary parts spanning the charitable and council sectors, 2.5 days a week working for the City Council’s Community Employment & Skills Team based at Loxley House and 2.5 days a week for the Rebalancing Foundation based in Bulwell – both of which will mean the post holder developing practical activity and managing strategies, partnerships and projects which will improve opportunities for potential and actual jobseekers in Nottingham North and contribute to a reduction in unemployment in one of the most deprived parts of the City and wider region.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. To build on the work of with the Rebalancing the Outer Estates Charity to deliver an Employment & Skills strategy for Nottingham North in line with the objectives of the Rebalancing Foundation and Nottingham City Council, ensuring a fair allocation of resource and activity comes to Nottingham North, organising a Nottingham North Jobs Fair and other practical events and programmes, initiating innovations in Nottingham North that can be replicated nationally, and attracting funding from charitable, local, national and EU sources to meet the objectives.

2. To work with education, training and employment providers to target delivery of the right support to skill local people and to strengthen existing relationships with national (e.g DWP) and local partners (e.g. FE, voluntary groups) across the public, private and third sectors, influencing and driving the implementation of mainstream and discretionary provision, developing sound and sustainable actions for intervention with local neighbourhoods and priority groups that support the delivery of Employment & Skills programmes and projects, active in Nottingham North.

3. To devise and keep under review strategic action plans to ensure Nottingham North’s needs are fairly and fully advanced, proactively seeking external funding and developing innovative funding mechanisms for employment and skills related activity with both the public and private sectors.

4. To develop strong working relationships with local neighbourhood delivery organisations to ensure provision meets the needs of local people, facilitating and driving local partnerships to support the development and delivery of action plans.
