City Centre Awarded Least Littered Environment Award

Less Littered image

Nottingham has been named as the prettiest and tidiest city in the East Midlands.

In total the city scooped four accolades at the regional In Bloom Awards last week.

The Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) picked up the East Midlands in Bloom award for the Least Littered Environment – beating 63 Bloom entries from across the East Midlands region.

This special award is a tribute to the cleanliness of the city centre and the professionalism and hard work of our city centre cleaning teams. Thank you and well done to everyone.

Pictured receiving the award is Julie Walker and Caroline Elmhirst from Nottingham in Bloom, Matt Gyles and Kristian Salmon from the Horticultural Team, and Stewart Thornhill, John Marsh and Colin Sear from Neighbourhood Operations.

  • Dunkirk and Lenton to restore railings on Leengate and  Hillside and to deep clean Beeston Road and Montpellier Estate
  • Bulwell Town Centre
  • Bestwood including Beckhampton, Hartcroft, Elmbridge and Belleville Roads

Does your area need a Deep Clean? Let us know!

Need a helpful Recycling reminder?

Did you know that one of the most common contaminants in household recycling bins is carrier bags?

Many residents think they are helping our bin crews by putting their recyclable materials in carrier bags. Carrier bags actually contaminate the bins as they can't be recycled.

Please make sure you put any recyclable materials in your household recycling bin (brown bin with grey lid) loose to avoid any non-collections.

Download this handy guide to learn more about what can and can not be recycled.
