Closing date: 07 October 2015

Our very busy team needs a  knowledgeable electoral administrator whose primary role will be to supervise the day to day operation of the City Council's electoral functions. The postholder  will also play an important role in supporting  senior colleagues with significant tasks and projects such as the effective planning and delivery of all elections (including arrangements for absent voting), boundary and polling district reviews, canvassing of citizens under IER and the development and delivery of public awareness activities.

The candidate we are seeking must have significant  experience of working  in an electoral services team and of both electoral registration and  elections. We are looking for a pro-active, well-organised and self motivated individual who has a methodical approach to problem solving and who can be both flexible and resilient under pressure.  The ideal candidate's written and verbal communication skills will be precise, confident and effective. They will also be able to demonstrate commitment to driving up team and individual performance and to high standards of customer care and customer focus in service delivery and development .

A high level of IT competence is required and while experience of using Xpress elections software is not essential it would be an advantage ( though training would of course be provided in Xpress).  It would also be advantageous for candidates to be holders  of the AEA Certificate or to be willing to pursue this qualification.

A disclosure and barring service check is a requirement of this post.

For an informal discussion, please contact either Sarah Wilson ( 0115 8764308) or Lynn Hayes ( 0115 8764309)

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 4 November  2015.
