Making a difference to someone else's life
If you have a genuine desire to help people and improve their quality of life then you could consider a career in care.
Currently, there are over 2 million Care Assistants in the UK, who are improving the daily lives of children, people with physical or learning disabilities, older people and families.
If you're considering working in care you might want to attend a Nottingham Jobs 'Careers in Care' selection day. Selection days are a great opportunity to learn more about the role, meet local employers and apply for sector based training.
If accepted, you will undertake a short course to improve your knowledge and skills in the care sector. This includes the Level 1 qualification 'Preparing to work in Adult Social Care'', employability skills, application and interview advice and the possibility of a guaranteed interview if you are successful.
Joanne Metcalfe, from Bulwell, had been unemployed for 5 years before she contacted Nottingham Jobs. She has since gone on to successfully complete our 'Careers in Care' course and is now employed by Archangel Home Care as a Community Support Worker.
"Working with people with disabilities is so rewarding...I feel like I've got a purpose in life again and I'm so grateful for the support I've been given to help kick start my new career in care."
If you are a Nottingham City resident, aged 18 or older, and interested in attending a selection day, call Nottingham Jobs on 0115 876 4508 and ask about 'Careers in Care'.
If you have previous care experience you can search and apply for the latest care vacancies on Nottingham Jobs. You can also read Joanne's full story in the Nottingham Evening Post.
