This monthly newsletter aims to keep you informed on everything that's going on across Nottingham from walking, cycling, public transport and our Citycard savings to our Major Transport Projects


European Mobility Week 2015

Funded by Nottingham City Council via the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) The Big Wheel, Sustrans and partners presents a week full of activities aimed at promoting sustainable travel with our annual car free day in Hockley to make way for a street fayre.  

Activities on the day include pedal powered smoothie bikes, live music, street entertainment, guided walks, traditional lawn games on an artificial lawn and much more!

Western Cycle Corridor  consultation

The most exciting part of Nottingham City Council's proposed £6.1m Cycle City improvements is being planned and residents and businesses were invited to have their say.

In total we had over 270 comments submitted through our online consultation map - the first time we have used such a method of consultation.

Aviva Tour of Britain

The Tour of Britain 2015 takes place 6th - 15th September with Nottingham hosting a stage finish on 11th September at the Forest Recreation Ground on Friday 11th September, between 3.40pm and 4.30pm.

To celebrate there will be an afternoon of FREE entertainment and activities on the Forest Recreation Ground for you and the family to enjoy.

Cycling for All

The next Cycling for All event is down at Queen's Drive Park and Ride on the 20th September 2015.

Ridewise, the Nottingham based cycling charity, carries out the events with the aim of inspiring more people to give cycling a go, no matter what their ability.

Subway reopens to cyclists and pedestrians

Last week the subway under Crown Island re opened for use by pedestrians and cyclists bringing us one step closer to the completion of the works.

Sky Ride Local

Just because summer is coming to a close doesn't mean you should store away your bike until next year!

There are a great programme of led cycle rides across Nottingham in September:

  • The Dumbles, Sunday 13th September 2015 at 10am
  • Wollaton Park circular, Sunday 20th September 2015 at 10am
  • Hucknall Local Pride circular, Sunday 20th September 2015 at 10am
  • River Leen Greenway, Sunday 27th September 2015 at 10am
