This post has a market supplement to ensure they are comparable with other providers, therefore the pay rate for the Assistant Activity Leader is currently £7.94 per hour. (The pay is currently under a pending pay review)

To assist in the delivery of fun and safe swimming lessons to pre- school aged children and children aged 5+ in begginner swimming lessons. The assistant activity leader will be in the water supporting the young swimmers and will need to engage the young swimmers in the lessons by being fun and outgoing. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

- Level 1 ASA teacher qualification 

- Effective communication skills to engage a wide audience and provide clear instructions 

- Ability to follow lesson plans 

- Ability to manage and motivate a group

 To develop and deliver fun, progressive and enjoyable swimming lessons to a wide range of age groups and abilities including babies from 6 months with their parents/carers, pre-school age children, juniors and adults. Lessons and schemes of work need to be developed based on the ASA framework for teaching swimming. Lessons need to be varied engaging and fun for all of those taking part whilst learning the skills and techniques of swimming. The Head activity leader will be responsible for the group they are teaching as well as providing direction to the Assistant Activity leader. They will also need to lifeguard the group of participants which will require them to hold a relevant lifeguard qualification. The leader will be responsible for recording information on the swimming participants in order to give out badges and assess against the swimming lesson criteria.

 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

- Hold an ASA level 2 Swim teacher qualification or equivalent Current lifeguarding qualification 

- Effective communication skills to engage with a wide audience and be clear in communicating instructions

 - Ability to write lesson plans and keep records (registers, outcomes against set criteria)

 - Ability to manage and motivate a group
