The first 20 wi-fi hotspots in Nottingham city centre, announced earlier this year as part of a partnership between the City Council and BT, are being switched on this week.
It means anyone with a smartphone, tablet or laptop can get online for free in some of the city’s most popular areas for tourism, shopping and leisure.
Groundwork has started at the Meadows Recreation Ground in Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment – the site of a new cricket pavilion benefiting local communities.
The project will see the development of a brand new dedicated cricket clubhouse on the recreation ground – and is being delivered by nearly 50 local partners who are giving time, services and materials for free.
Farndon Green, in Wollaton Park Estate, will play host to a fabulous fun day on Friday 14 August from 1pm until 4pm.
Nottingham City Council and Wollaton Park Residents Association are working with Sustrans, the SEND Project and other partners to organise the community event which is for people of all ages.
Recently Stanstead nursery and primary School in Rise Park was awarded its SCoRE (Schools’ Collaboration on Resource Efficiency) status. The children at Stanstead took part in a week-long Eco programme taking an active part in measuring and assessing their school’s current energy efficiency.
