A vacancy has arisen for the post of Manager of the City’s Adoption Team.  The successful applicant will lead a team of experienced Adoption Social Workers and work closely with our Post Order Adoption Team. 

You will manage the Adoption Placement Advisors who assist with Home Finding.

You will be expected to contribute to the recruitment of adopters; you will also manage the Customer Service Officers who track the adoption progress from their first contact with an initial enquiry, to approval at Panel.

You will monitor the quality of Assessments at all stages and will Quality Assure the Assessment and the quality of reports to the Adoption Panel.

You will contribute to the Performance Monitoring of the service and will report regularly with the department and to eternal bodies on the progress of the recruitment of applicants, and the progress of adoption for all children in the city who have an Adoption Plan.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

1)     Substantial experience (minimum of 3 years) as a Social Care Practitioner with Children and Families and 2 years’ experience in Fostering and Adoption.

2)     Proven ability to Quality Assure Assessments for Adoption Panel.

3)     Ability to work effectively and proactively.

This is an exciting opportunity to be joining the Adult Residential Services Team to gain an understanding and experience in paying for care with the implementation of the new Care Act.

To develop & maintain a technical working knowledge of Charging for Residential Care administration, including Home Payments and the recovery of Residential Care accommodation charges.  To undertake financial and clerical duties, to work as a team member and contribute ideas to assist in improving the work and customer experience.  To administer deceased accounts, including the recovery of the overdue accommodation charges in a sensitive, diplomatic and tactful manner.  To assist with dealing with queries in writing in person and over the telephone from members of the public and outside agencies.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- To be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the public and external agencies in person, in writing and by telephone.

- To have the ability to learn and maintain a knowledge of welfare benefits relating to people in care


-To have the ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines


- To be able to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues

Nottingham is an exciting and vibrant place to live and work that attracts a wide variety of both large and small developments. We are looking for a planner who will operate in one of two Development Management teams.

You will handle a varied caseload of planning applications, appeals and pre application

enquiries appropriate to level of the post. You will also play an integral role in delivering a high quality team service and level of customer care. You will have a good knowledge of current development management legislation, practice and procedures.

You will be based at Loxley House, and be able to undertake site visits.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

 -  Experience of planning in an urban context including responsibility for a varied caseload of planning and other applications and related appeals.

 -  Ability to analyse effectively planning proposals both from documents and on site, exercising judgement, problem solving skills, initiative and responsibility.

 -  Ability to achieve performance targets whilst managing a substantial and varied caseload and maintaining quality outputs.

 -  Ability to communicate effectively in plain English, both orally and in writing, avoiding jargon, and to produce concise and accurate letters and reports.
