Nottingham is joining forces with Dolly Parton to promote free books to children and we need your help to make a difference.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting scheme that was launched in America by the singer.
Now partners in Nottingham are working together to make sure every Nottingham child from 0-5 years old can get a free book delivered to their home each month.
Why is your help important?
Data
about Nottingham shows that children can start school with reading skills up
to 14% behind those of other children in the UK. Studies have proven that
the Imagination Library can change this by helping parents and children to
enjoy exploring books together. Looking at the pictures, talking about the
stories and having fun together makes a huge difference.
So
far, 1,384 Nottingham children have been registered and 16,915 books
have been delivered. But we want to do more. We want EVERY child to be able to
receive the books. With your help we can raise the necessary funds to deliver
this exciting vision. Together we can give the gift of reading.
Dolly Parton said:
“I
am delighted that partners in Nottingham are working together to help even more
kids have the opportunity to develop a love of books from the earliest possible
age.
“I want kids to love books, to have an emotional
connection – even a reverence for books. I am most proud of the fact that every
child in the Imagination Library does not have to grow up without books in
their home.”
Every
penny raised will inspire a child to love books. Please join us & give the
gift of reading.

a special video message to Nottingham, Dolly had a go at Nottingham’s famous
style of welcome – before urging everyone to help more Nottingham children to
benefit from her ‘Imagination Library’ scheme.
