Welcome to your June Transport Nottingham Newsletter!

This monthly newsletter aims to keep you informed on everything that's going on across Nottingham from walking, cycling, public transport and our Citycard savings to our Major Transport Projects

Cycle City Ambitions

May 2015 saw the Nottingham Cycle City launch event take place at Nottingham Trent University. At the event a variety of presentations were held from guest speakers including Portfolio Holder for Jobs, Growth and Transport Cllr Nick McDonald and Cycle Champion Cllr Jane Urquhart along with stands of information for the public to browse.

Cycle Live 2015

Cycle Live festival 2015 is coming to Nottingham on the 20th and 21st June!

Whether you're taking part in one of the races or just spectating there's loads for you to get involved in at the Big Wheel's Cycle Village!

The village is open between 10am-5pm on Saturday/Sunday at the Victoria Embankment with lots of free activities for the family.

Workplace Challenge

Businesses in Nottingham are being encouraged to get more active this summer as part of the Big Wheel’s Workplace Challenge!

The Challenge takes place between 29th June and 7th August.

Employees sign up and log walking, running and cycling journeys.

The next Cycling for All event is down at Queen's Drive Park and Ride on the 21st June 2015.

Ridewise, the Nottingham based cycling charity, carries out the events with the aim of inspiring more people to give cycling a go, no matter what their ability.

Festival of Cycling

To celebrate our £6.1m government funding award, Nottingham is hosting a Festival of Cycling, a summer of cycling events and activities – find out more by visiting the Festival of Cycling webpage.

Victoria Bus Station renovations complete

Victoria Bus Station has undergone a vast amount of improvement works over the past year including a brand new Travel Centre, improved seating and flooring and new real time info boards.

Happy Birthday City Car Club!

It's been a year since City Car Club was launched in Nottingham, in the first year the scheme has seen 221 members register, 1560 bookings and a whopping 43371 miles travelled!

Using funding from the Department for Transport secured through the Car Plus Demonstration bid the scheme is due to expand in early summer with 4 new vehicles at key transport interchange sites.

Things to remember when hiring a Citycard Cycle...

There are over 25 on-street hire points for you to use.
Remember to return your bike to your nearest on-street hire point ready for the next user.
Remember not to cycle on the pavement unless its a designated shared path in line with the Highway Code.
You don't need a Citycard to hire a bike just a mobile phone.
There are over 500 Citycard Cycles in circulation.
