New opening times

The opening hours for each library are set out below. 

Collier Row, Elm Park, Gidea Park, Harold Wood and South Hornchurch: Monday and Tuesday closed; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10am – 4pm; Thursday 2pm - 8pm.

Harold Hill, Romford and Upminster:  Monday and Thursday 10am – 8pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am - 5pm Saturday 10am – 4pm.

Hornchurch:  Monday to Friday inclusive 1pm - 10pm, Saturday 10am - 3pm.

Rainham:  Monday and Wednesday 10am – 8pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday 10am – 4pm.


Harold Wood Library

Wednesday 13 April, 11am - noon, Young at Heart Club. Poetry readings by members of Havering Libraries Poetry Group.

Hornchurch Library

Hornchurch Library has two classrooms and a meeting room available for hire.

Events:

Monday 11 April, 8pm - 9.45pm. Havering Essex Wildlife Trust will hear a talk about wildlife in London.

Monday 9 May, 8pm - 9.45pm Havering Essex Wildlife Trust will hear a talk about Badgers and the Badger Man. Both at Hornchurch Library. Email for more details.

On Friday 15 April, 11am - noon, there will be a meeting to update residents about the renovation work at Upminster Windmill.

Elm Park Writing Group, second Wednesday of the month,  1pm. Join us to share and discuss your stories and poems.  Everybody welcome.

Daytime Reading Group, first Thursday of the month, 11am. Come along and listen to the group review their latest read and pick up the next book.

Calling all entrepreneurs

If you are self-employed or looking to start your own business The Workary at Rainham Library could be just right for you.

Havering Council is sponsoring an initial six-month trial to provide a room, with wi-fi, where you can work, meet clients and discuss issues with other local entrepreneurs and experts from Wimble Tech, which has set up similar centres in other London Boroughs.

Harold Hill Library progress

Work is still progressing on the new Harold Hill Library in the Hilldene Shopping Centre ready for opening this summer.

The lift is being installed this month and around 70 per cent of the internal walls are now finished. The roof has been completed and windows are being fitted, so all is on schedule.
