Fireworks
and the law
Retailers
are reminded they can only sell fireworks to the general public between Thursday
15 October and Tuesday 10 November.
The
maximum penalty is a £5,000 fine and/or six months in jail. Full details of the law are

Brewery
boost for community groups
The
Brewery, has launched its 2015 Community Rewards Campaign, which will run until
Saturday 31 October.
Charities
and community groups across the area are all in with the chance of receiving a
donation of up to £2,000.
Customers
will be able to choose the cause they want to support by collecting tokens,
each time they spend over £30 in one transaction with participating retailers
or just £15 in participating leisure outlets. They can then place their tokens
in a designated collection boxes, for their chosen charity, outside Sainsbury’s
and on the first floor of the mall.

Wills cash for hospice
Mullis and Peake
Solicitors presented Saint Francis Hospice with a cheque for £3,448 after
raising funds from the charities ‘Make a Will Fortnight’ initiative.
The firm has
supported this annual initiative, which involves solicitors providing their services
for free, to give local people the opportunity to have their wills written in
return for a donation to the charity, since it began in 2009.

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 2 Award in Food
Hygiene and Catering courses are run at Romford Baptist Church, Main Road,

Can you claim
Business Rate Relief?
If your business occupies
retail properties with a rateable value of £50,000 or less and is wholly or
mainly used as a shop, restaurant, cafe or drinking establishment you could be
entitled to business rate relief.
The relief that will apply is
up to £1,000 for 2014/15 and £1,500 from the 2015/16 financial year. More information available
