Green boost for The Brewery
The Brewery has recently received ISO 14001 certification
which is an environmental standard all shopping centres aim to reach.
The Brewery Centre Manager, Tom Stobbart, said: “ISO 14001
will enable us to manage and reduce the impacts of the site on the local
environment, as well as make us more efficient in the use of energy, water and
waste disposal.“

HGVs face ban in safer zone
From Tuesday 1 September, HGVs
will need safeguards to protect cyclists, and improved mirrors to give drivers a
better view around their vehicle if they want to enter London inside the M25.
The maximum fine for each breach of the ban will be
£1,000. The operator will also be referred for consideration to the relevant Traffic Commissioner, who is responsible for the licensing and regulation of HGV

Can you claim
Business Rate Relief?
If your business occupies
retail properties with a rateable value of £50,000 or less and is wholly or
mainly used as a shop, restaurant, cafe or drinking establishment you could be
entitled to business rate relief.
The relief that will apply is
up to £1,000 for 2014/15 and £1,500 from the 2015/16 financial year. More information available

Tell us your views on migrant workers
The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC)
is consulting with businesses on the points based system for skilled
workers outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) who have an offer of
skilled employment in the UK.
Havering businesses are invited to
submit views on
the proposals by email to MAC, with copy to Jolly Choudhury before the
deadline of Friday 25 September.
