Rainham Redevelopment

£40million for Rainham

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has announced that the Council’s Housing Zone bid to transform the A1306 New Road and old industrial sites into a vibrant new residential area has been approved. A total of £40million is due to be spent in Rainham.

The exciting future for the run-down industrial areas along New Road includes:

• 3,500 quality new homes

• A 2km long linear park along the A1306

• New school and health provision

• New train station

• Creation of new jobs

• New safe pedestrian and cycle routes.

Each police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT)  holds meetings where the public can attend, ask questions and get crime prevention advice.

Recycling centre with new covers

Recycling centre looking better

Keep an eye open for the new look recycling centres at Bretons Outdoor Recreation Centre, Rainham Road, and Malan Square, Rainham.

Thanks to a grant from the London Waste and Recycling Board new covers are being installed to make the recycling centres more attractive.

Don’t forget if you recycle at one of the centres and post a selfie you will earn 1,200 Green Points, worth £3, to spend on a wide range of goods or services.

Free Story Sack Workshops

If you have a child starting school in Reception this September head to the Rainham Village Children’s Centre on Monday 17 August, between 1pm and 3pm, for a story sack workshop. Book your place by email here.

Free swimming

If you’re a Havering resident with a child under eight-years-old they can swim for free at Chafford Sports Complex, in Rainham.

The forms cover a wide range of issues from fly-tipping to potholes.

Completing the correct form sends it direct to the right people to deal with that issue.

Four Rainham businesses have reached the finals of the Havering Business Awards 2015.

CEME in the Business Person of the Year category

Airborne Environmental Consultants and Containers4Sale in the Staff Training and Development category.

The winners will be announced at a gala presentation evening, hosted by Francine Lewis on Friday 16 October at the CEME Conference Centre in Marsh Way, Rainham, so come along and support your local businesses.

Tickets, which include a three-course dinner, pre-dinner drinks and wine with the meal, can be booked online and cost £80 plus VAT each.
