Thank you for signing up to stay informed about the A14 and M11 Essential works. The package of works comprises of 15 separate schemes which are all located on the A14 and M11 in Cambridgeshire. We will provide regular updates as the schemes progress.

Here's the current schedule of works that Balfour Beatty are carrying out on behalf of Highways England. Remember schedules may need to change at short notice, for example due to bad weather.

A14-A1307 Embankment repair and A14 Huntingdon Road Bridge Refurbishment

Embankment repairs

 

Repairs to bridge parapet, drainage and embankment, resurfacing of footway

 

Full carriageway closure on A1307 overnight on the 16th Nov.

 

24-hour lane 1 closure & 40mph speed restriction.

 

Early 2016 Full overnight closure of the A1307. Daytime closure with 40mph speed restriction.

Traffic travelling WB for the A14 from Cambridge will be diverted south east on the A1307 Huntingdon Road to the B1049 where it will travel north to junction 32 of the A14, then west on the A14 exiting on to the A14 West for Huntingdon where the diversion ends.

 

 

A14 Grange Farm Embankment Repair

 

18th November 2015

7 months

8pm to 6am

Geotechnical repair of embankment slope between Beck Brook & Grange Farm/Elm Grange Cottages.

 

A mixture of overnight full carriageway closures and/or lane 1 closures.

 

During full closures eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A14 at junction 29 and return west on the A14 to junction 24, then head south on the A1089 to the A428 where it will head east on the A428 then on to the A14 where the diversion ends. Traffic travelling east on the A14 and then on to the M11 south will follow the same diversion to the A14 but will then continue on to junction 32 at Histon where it will leave the A14 and return west on the A14 exiting at junction 31 for the M11 south where the diversion ends.

A14 Kings Hedges & Impington Bridge Works

 

6th Jan 2016

4 to 5 nights

9pm to 6am

Carriageway resurfacing, sign relocation and verge reconstruction.

 

Full eastbound and westbound carriageway closures but not simultaneously

 

For A14 eastbound closures:

Motorway Traffic: Traffic will exit at junction 32 and return westbound on the A14 to junction 31 then on to the M11 south to Junction 10 and exit on to the A505 heading east to the A11, then north on the A11 to the A14.

Non Motorway Traffic: will leave at junction 32 and then head south on the B1049 Cambridge Road turning left on to Kings hedges Road then travelling east to the A10 Milton Road where it will turn left on heading north to the A14 junction 33 where the diversion ends.

A14 westbound closures: The westbound carriageway will be closed from Junction 36.

Motorway Traffic: Traffic will be directed south on the A11 to the A505 where it will head west to the M11 junction 10 and then head north on the M11 to junction 14 where the diversion ends.

Non Motorway Traffic: will follow the same diversion until it reaches the M11 Junction 10 where it shall continue west on the A505 to the A10 and then head north on the A10 to the A14 where the diversion ends.

Local Traffic at junction 33 will be diverted west to Kings Hedges Road on to Cambridge Road B1049 to junction 32 where the diversion ends.

 

M11 Junction 13 Southbound Entry Slip Road Resurfacing

16th November 2015

2 night

9pm to 6am

Carriageway resurfacing, renewal of road markings, studs and detector loops.

Full overnight closure of slip road

Traffic will be diverted via the A1303 Madlingley Road to the A1134 Queens Road travelling south to the A603 Barton Road heading west where it will rejoin the M11 at junction 12.

A14 Junctions 29 – 31 Surface Repairs

18 November 2015

Up to 3 weeks (weekdays only)

9pm to 6am

Carriageway surface repairs and road markings

Full closure of the eastbound carriageway between junctions 29 and 31

Eastbound traffic will be returned westbound to on the A124 to Spittals Interchange exiting to Brampton Hut interchange with the A1 then south on the A1 to St Neots then east on the A428.

All traffic for A14 eastbound junctions between 29 and 31 will continue eastbound to junction 32 and return westbound on the A14 to Girton taking the exit for junctions 30 to 29.

M11 Junction 11 Addenbrookes Hospital A&E Signs

 

TBA Spring 2016

6 days

9pm to 6am

Installation of new A&E signs on the northbound and southbound carriageways for Addenbrookes Hospital

Overnight lane 1 and hard shoulder closure on the northbound and southbound carriageways on the approach to junction 11.

No diversions required.

A14 Junction 33 Embankment Repairs

 

TBA 2016

23 Weeks

9pm to 6am

Geotechnical repair of embankment slope at two locations: Site 1 - Marker Post 102/2 on the A14 West Bound prior to J33 Exit slip. Site 2 - A14 westbound carriageway between the main carriageway and the junction 33 exit slip.

Site 1 – Overnight lane 1 closure on the A14 west prior to junction 33 exit slip.

 

Site 2 – Overnight lane 1 closures.

No diversions required.

A14 Junctions 26 to 29 Resurfacing

4th December 2015

5 Weeks (with a 2 week break over Christmas)

Weekdays only

9pm to 6am

Carriageway resurfacing, renewal of road markings and road studs.

 

Full eastbound carriageway closures between junctions 26 and 29

 

Eastbound traffic will leave at junction 26 and return via the A14 westbound to Junction 23 then southbound on A1 to the A428.

All traffic for the A14 eastbound between 26 and 29 will continue eastbound on the A428/A14 to junction 32 and return westbound on the A14 to junction 30.

A14 traffic for the M11 south will follow the same diversion and exit the A14 west at Girton junction 31.
