We've made a video to show you the three different methods that we use to fill potholes.

When potholes are reported, our highways stewards inspect them to decide on the best fix.

Time to trim

grass cutting

Our grass cutting programme is well under way for 2015.

Every year we cut around 1,381 acres of grass. This includes residential areas, rural verges, roundabouts, traffic islands and areas at road junctions so drivers can see clearly.

You can find out more about grass cutting here: Grass, hedge, weed and tree maintenance.

The road to improvement

new road

The Department for Transport report on road conditions in England released last month shows that East Sussex has had a big improvement.

In 2007 14% of the county’s classified roads were in need of maintenance but by 2013/14 it had dropped to 7%. Our most recent survey shows from autumn 2014 shows that this has improved again to just 5%.

Short back and sides

Spring has sprung and greenery is growing.

If your property has a border with a public footpath or road please keep your hedges and verges cut back so pedestrians, cyclists and traffic can pass safely. We politely remind you that it is your responsibility to keep it trim.
