Devon County Council (DCC) is commencing consultation on changes to the enhanced redundancy compensation pay which currently applies to all DCC staff including school support staff but excluding teachers. (Teachers have a different redundancy compensation pay scheme and are not part of this consultation.) DCC is consulting with the recognised trade unions that represent the staff affected - UNISON, GMB, Unite and ATL – and met with them on 18 March to begin formal consultation. In order to ensure that all schools and stakeholder bodies are included in this consultation, the attached document is also being sent to out via the School Communications and to a number of other stakeholder bodies. The document details the change which is being consulted on and provides schools and stakeholder bodies with a mailbox for comments/feedback. It is requested that schools combine feedback where possible. Academies are not part of this consultation.

Devon Norse has studied the recent guidance on Disqualification
by Association in relation to their employees working in schools and taken guidance
from the DFE. They have been advised that where their staff do not
directly supervise or have responsibility for children, they do not need
to complete the declaration. The majority of Devon Norse
staff do not meet the criteria for completion of the declaration, however
local managers are working to identify staff who do meet the criteria - these
employees will be required by Norse to complete the necessary
declaration. Please contact your Devon Norse representative if you
require further clarification.
