The objective of these events:

That the process for accessing SEN funding, including the Devon Assessment Framework (DAF) process and how to read the funding statements, is fully understood

How long will it last?
Each session will last one and a half hours, to include time for active participation and discussion

INTRODUCTION – by John Peart, Senior Manager, Education & Learning

DAF PROCESS - presented by Julia Foster and Velda Woodruff of the SEN 0-25 Team
• Understanding what you have to do and when you need to do it
• Understanding what we mean by “additional to and different from”

FINANCE – presented by Karen Powlesland and members of the EAL Finance Team
• Understanding Element 2 and how this is made up
• Understanding Element 3 and clearing up any misconceptions about how this works
• Explaining the differences in funding for Pre-16; Post 16 and Post 19 high needs learners
• Understanding the budget notification
• Understanding the monthly high needs funding statement
• Understanding the monthly IAR schedule

PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE – led by Julia Foster and Velda Woodruff
• Working through examples to consolidate understanding

THE TRANSFER PROCESS – presented by Julia Foster
• Where we are now and what the plan is
