Peninsula Pensions

A quarterly e-zine for Devon and Somerset LGPS employers

Information

“Understanding" workshops
Circular 287 has been issued to advise administering authorities and employers of a number of workshops to be run at various locations. The events have been organised by the Local Government Pension Committee. One workshop being run covers ‘The Employer Role’. This workshop has been run before but there are significant updates for 2015 since the introduction of the new LGPS on 1 April 2014.

Intended Audience for ‘The Employer Role’
These workshops are aimed primarily at staff working for scheme employers in England and Wales who have operational responsibilities under the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). You don't necessarily need a thorough working knowledge of the LGPS itself but some experience of the scheme and its provisions would be useful.

Please refer to the circular for details of cost and how to book places.

New Forms and Procedure Guide launched 2 January 2015
If you attended the recent PLOG meetings, you will know that we have re-designed our Leavers form, Flexible Retirement Leavers Form and Estimate Request forms so that we have all the extra information we need to calculate the CARE pension. We have also consolidated all the different estimate request forms into one form. Please use the revised forms that will be available from 2 January 2015 on the website  and disregard any old copies. Any forms we have already received in the old format will still be dealt with. Please see the procedure guide for guidance  on which form is required.

Monthly Contributions Form  DCC Pension Fund
Once a payment has been made into the Devon Pension Fund bank account for the monthly contributions, please submit the Monthly Contributions form, using the on-line system, as close to the date of the payment as possible so that the contributions can be allocated accordingly. Please make sure that the contribution details entered on the form match the payment made. This way, your contribution details will be up to date and the number of queries we currently need to raise with employers will reduce. Access to the on-line form can be arranged by e-mailing our Employers Liaison Officer Emma Shand. This only applies to Devon fund employers – Somerset fund employers should continue with existing arrangements.

Christmas and New Year opening times
Our office will be closed from 13:00 on 24 December 2014 and will reopen on 2 January 2015, so we will not be able to respond to telephone calls or e-mails during this period.
