Devon approves budget savings and first council tax rise in four years
Devon County Council has approved a budget calling for nearly £28 million of savings in its spending for the next year.
The Council also backed a council tax rise for the first time in four years
to prevent even tougher cuts in hard-pressed services.
School leaders in Devon renewing campaign for fair funding for education
Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Schools, Will Mumford, and the chairman of the Devon Association of Primary Heads, Martyn Boxall, have written to Education Secretary, Michael Gove asking him to speed up his consultation on fair funding for schools
Pothole repair teams tripled
The number of teams
dealing with pothole safety defect repairs has increased from 13 to 34,
with an extra 52 staff tackling the problem.
With the arrival of Spring, the
County Council is issuing a reminder of its “evolve your commute” campaign.
Residents are being urged to try an alternative to driving to work or study,
whether it is walking, cycling, public transport, or car sharing
