Flood legacy proposals agreed

Devon County Councillors have agreed proposals to deal with the legacy left by the major flood events in 2012/13, in which Devon's highways sustained almost £18 million of damage.

Review of in-house Day Service Provision

The way in which people in Devon wish to access day services is changing, with more people choosing to use money allocated to them through personal budgets to pursue hobbies and interests, or access local activities and clubs.

In response to this changing need, and a 66% reduction in the numbers of people accessing day centres, Devon County Council's Cabinet Committee has announced plans to review its in-house centre provision.

Help GPs find 'Active' areas in the community

Public Health Devon is in the process of developing a new and exciting web-based tool called Get Active Devon. The e-tool will enable GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants and physiotherapists to promote physical activity among their patients. Please help to ensure that local groups, organisations and providers have a web presence in their local area

Highways and Traffic Order Committees

HATOC

Meetings are open to the public and any district, city, town or parish councillor is welcome to attend, and with the consent of the Committee speak about an item on the agenda. The agenda is normally available on the website one week in advance of the meetings

There eight local Highways and Traffic Order Committees in Devon. They meet three times a year to approve details of Local Transport Plan schemes, discuss future programmes as they affect their area, and determine traffic regulation orders where there has been substantial objection. The calendar of meetings is available on the Devon County Council website.

Working ’2gether’ for young families

More families with young children in Devon are now eligible for a free early learning and childcare place, following recent Government legislation that makes early years funding an entitlement to lower income families with a 2 year old

Mobile Library Consultation

Devon County Council is launching a consultation with mobile library users, as proposals are considered which would remove underused stopping places from mobile routes, and reduce the frequency of the service, cutting the cost of the service by half
