Asbestos in schools: data collection

In March 2015, the Department for Education concluded a review of its policy on the management of asbestos in schools.  The outcomes from the review included the issuing of updated guidance, Managing Asbestos in your school, and a call for a clearer picture of how asbestos is managed in schools across England.

As a result head teachers are being asked to answer a small number of straightforward questions on behalf of their school. Head Teachers will receive immediate feedback and advice based on their responses.  The online questionnaire can be found on the GOV.UK website.

A good return from schools will increase the understanding of the current situation and will help to determine whether further action from the Education Funding Agency is required. Schools are encouraged to return the online form by 29 February 2016.

School Holiday Emergency Contact Details

In order for the multi-agency safeguarding processes in the MASH to be as effective as possible in protecting children, schools are being asked to provide contact details of a nominated person or persons who can be contacted by the MASH during school holidays. The nominated person will only be contacted when it is felt essential to have information from the school about the child as part of the multi-agency child protection decision making process. Please provide these details to the Education MASH Researcher Louisa.rockey@babcockinternational.com
