In 2015, Public Health commissioned a countywide school based survey of children and young people’s health related behaviour. Originating with Exeter University, the survey questionnaire was developed by the Schools Health Education Unit (SHEU) who has over 30 years' experience in this field of work.

In the Spring and Summer terms of 2015, a total of 1589 pupils took part in 26 primary and 4 secondary school settings in Devon. The survey results aided Public Health in better understanding children’s context and perspective and provided robust evidence to more effectively target work with pupils. The data has also been incredibly helpful to schools. The evidence collected was summarised in an individual report for each school, and the combined evidence from all schools is being used to inform the Early Help for Mental Health (EH4MH) service to support schools.

Public Health is re-running the survey in the Spring 2016 term. Many schools have signed up to complete the survey again and this is your school’s chance to take advantage of this exciting opportunity!    READ MORE
