Staff Achievements and Reward Scheme (STARS) is open to all Devon Highways staff
The STARS Environment category is ideal to nominate our teams and colleagues. Has someone you know demonstrated an outstanding contribution to caring/managing our environment, and/or our natural resources? Take the opportunity to recognise a colleague/team for the work they do? If you are unable to access the STARS webpage please download the nomination form and email or post it back.
Compliments
The following compliments have been received for members of the Highway Services Team:-
'Mr Parkins would like to pass on his thanks to Karen Armstrong for help in the resolution of his enquiry about his Disabled Bay and for the Council in its prompt resolution'
'I have tried contacting the HST via the new procedure today and spoke to Annmarie. Not sure where Annmarie was based but she was very helpful - extremely helpful in fact. So all good so far!'
'Mr Sowden has recently applied for a vehicle crossing, the work has now been completed and has called to say Thank You to Nigel Frost NHO and Karen Armstrong HST for the help and support he received during the application process. Mr Sowden said that it was nice to be able to have people that he could call and speak to direct when he had any queries. He is very happy now the work has been completed'.
'Dear Annmarie, thank you very much for trying to sort out the overgrown hedge. As a community spirited person I cannot cut my own hedge, however do pay others to cut it back for me'.

Please come and join the Highway Services Team at The Queens Court Hotel in the centre of Exeter for a Christmas Dinner on Friday 4December 2015 at 5.00pm.

If you would like to come please register your interest with either Charlotte Rowe or Annmarie Lloyd to confirm a place, we will then ask for full payment and menu choices by 4 November 2015. The cost of the 3 course meal is £22.95 per person (drinks not included).
After the meal we are looking to go around the pubs and clubs if people also wish to join us.
Important Instruction to All HST Staff
Due to a recent data security breach and subsequent recommendation made by our Information Governance Team, would all staff please ensure that your auto complete function in Outlook is switched off.
This will stop Outlook suggesting recipients names based on emails that have been sent previously. This should help to reduce the likelihood of emails being sent to the wrong address.
To carry out this instruction please select;
File>Options>Mail>Send Message>and remove the tick from the Use Auto Complete tick box. Please also empty the auto complete list.
This instruction should be carried out by Friday 2 October. Please let your line manager know when this has been completed.
HST Hub Page
Our team name on the Hub has changed from the BCMT to HST so you may find that your links no longer work. An email was sent out to all HST staff on 11 September 2015 informing of how to correct this. If anybody is still experiencing problems or did not see the original email, please see the attached.
Cycle Lockers
For some time now I have been trying to sort out the cycle locker situation in Barnstaple, as we have a lot of lockers that are in bad repair and are not being used. I have been trying to find out about funding and how we might go about putting a proper process in place.
I have just heard from Peter Knight, Traffic Policy Technician who has also been looking at the cycle locker situation in Exeter, with a view to getting a consistent process in place for both areas.
With the new ACD phone system, a log (not recording) of every single call we get is made, which includes the phone number making the call. Therefore if you ever forget to ask for the number of the person that called you (internal or external), we now have a way of retrieving the information.
