Thank you to those of you who have supported the Head of Service recruitment process so far. Applications to the role of Head of Children’s Social Work have closed.

The recruitment process will continue in due course. In the mean time, Fiona Fitzpatrick, the interim Head of Children’s Social Work will continue in her role, and is committed to staying until new appointments and a smooth handover has been achieved.

Children’s Safeguarding and Improvement Board (CIB)

The Children’s Improvement Board aims to complete its work in July and is going to transfer to the Devon Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB).

At the latest CIB, Professor Ray Jones, Independent Chair, commented that the child protection system in Devon is in control of itself and that there is increasing stability and good levels of self-awareness. Read July's update.


Developing our social work academy

The development and implementation of the children’s social work academy continues to expand and grow. The academy model is based on a learning pathway, to provide a clear framework to support professional development.

Attachment and relationship-based practice training dates

We are pleased to announce the second phase of the Attachment and Relationship Based Practice training (formally known as ADAM). This four day programme is essential learning for staff as the underpinning framework for social work practice in Devon. Book here.


Youth Offending Service inspection update

A ‘Short Quality Screening’ of Devon’s Youth Offending Service was carried out by HMI Probation last month.

Over three days (29 June – 1 July) inspectors looked at 20 recent cases drawn from the statutory caseload, and assessed the quality of the work. Find out more.

This short video brings to life that dark and frightening experience and evokes the brighter future that dedicated Social Workers are working to create.

HP Records Manager

Important message to TRIM users – upgrade and rebrand to HP Records Manager

A major TRIM upgrade is planned to take place from 5pm on  Friday 14  August until 5pm on Sunday 16 August 2015, and the TRIM system will not be available between these times. For social care users, CareFirst will be available as usual.

With this upgrade, HP, the system supplier, is rebranding TRIM. The system will be called HP Records Manager or HPRM. Please follow the instructions here.
