Energy suppliers now delivering £12 Government Electricity Rebate to customers

Hinkley Point C Investment Agreement Signed

Hinkley

EDF and its partner, the China General Nuclear Corporation (CGN), have signed a Strategic Investment Agreement for Hinkley Point C, confirming the first new nuclear power station in the UK for a generation.  

The UK Government and EDF finalised the details during this week’s China State Visit, agreeing the Contract for Difference that will provide price certainty for the electricity generated from the plant. The deal will mean that consumers will not pay a penny until the plant is operating, whilst the taxpayer will not pick up the bill for decommissioning.

UK and China sign Clean Energy Partnership

The UK and China have signed the Clean Energy Partnership, an agreement to work together to transition to a low carbon economy.

This is the first agreement of its kind establishing co-operation in research and industry while transitioning to a low carbon global economy.  The Partnership will help to pave the way for effective energy relations between the two countries.

Big Energy Saving Week commences on Monday 26th October

Big Energy Saving Week

The fifth instalment of the Big Energy Saving Week starts up on 26th October.  This is a national campaign which aims to raise public awareness of the best ways to cut household fuel bills, including switching energy supplier/tariff to get the best deal. 

The Big Energy Saving Week is a partnership between The Department of Energy and Climate Change, Citizens Advice, and the Energy Saving Trust with the support of numerous organisations, charities and companies.

Throughout Big Energy Saving Week, Citizens Advice and other community groups will be hosting events across the country where people can drop in to get information and advice on all aspects of saving money on energy bills.
