Green Business Programme

March Newsletter

Welcome to the latest edition of the Coventry and Warwickshire Green Business Programme newsletter.  The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented global situation and a challenging time for everyone, everywhere. The welfare of our team, their families and the people that we work with, including all our customers and green business network members, is the most important thing right now. The Green Business Programme and environmental issues remain a priority and we will continue to tackle this through our work with businesses.  There are further details below on how as a team we are addressing this through our remote working networks.

Other items include a round up on our latest news and details on support for businesses during COVID-19. If you have any comments, news or suggestions, please get in touch. To keep up with our latest initiatives and news, then do follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn.

We are still working, just remotely

Team

With Coronavirus affecting all of us, we are prioritising the minimisation of risk to our team, our stakeholders, our customers and our organisation in line with Government guidance. The Green Business Programme continues to operate, although all our team is now working remotely and not travelling for business. Therefore, we will not be able to offer any appointments for energy audits for the time being, but we are still able to provide advice to organisations through phone or video calls.

We will of course ensure that once we are able to start visiting businesses, we will prioritise those organisations who confirm that they would like an energy audit and your organisation will be added to the system in request order. Therefore, please continue to send in your applications and requests to us at greenbusiness@coventry.gov.uk or telephone us on 024 7697 2046 or 024 7697 1069 for any advice. You can also follow us on twitter @cwgreenbusiness where we are providing daily updates on support for businesses during COVID-19.

Keep safe and well, and stay in touch.

Bernadette, Bethany, Clare, Daniel, Denise, Faustina, Matt and Sara.

Rugby firm cleans up with office move

Case study

A cleaning company from Rugby is mopping up extra work after moving to larger premises in the town.  Solutions Services’ new 6,000 sq ft premises is three times larger than its previous headquarters and has enabled the company to employ more cleaners and to take on additional office staff.

Solutions Services received £4,808 in funding from the Business Support Programme and Investment Fund, which aims to support regeneration and job creation in Coventry and Warwickshire, and £6,756 from the Coventry and Warwickshire Green Business Programme which helps businesses become more energy and resource efficient. Both programmes are part-funded by the ERDF and are being delivered by Coventry City Council.  The company was made aware of the various local authority funding opportunities on offer by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) Growth Hub.  Read more...

Air Quality Consultation

Air Quality Consultation

Since 2017 the Council has been working closely with the Government’s Joint Air Quality Unit [JAQU] to develop an Local Air Quality Action Plan (LAQAP) to reduce NO2 levels below the legal limit of 40ug/min the shortest possible time. In February, the Government confirmed that Coventry does not need to introduce a charging Clean Air Zone (CAZ D). Instead, the Government has agreed that the package of measures put forward by the Council would be effective in reducing NOlevels without the wider social and economic disbenefits that the CAZ D would have created.

We are now consulting on this latest LAQAP and would welcome your views.  For more information on the detailed proposals contained in the plan, and to tell us what you think, please visit https://www.coventry.gov.uk/airquality

For any queries about this consultation, please contact us at airquality@coventry.gov.uk
