
The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge
and skills to enable them to contribute to safeguarding children at risk of or
suffering sexual exploitation.
Participants must have completed the CSE Awareness Training
e-learning (or equivalent) before being accepted on this course.
Who is this training for?
This course is intended for practitioners and managers who work
directly with children, , who have experienced Child Sexual Exploitation or
are identified as at risk of exploitation. As a practitioner your work will
typically involve you in Team around the Family meetings, CiN meetings, Core
Groups etc. This includes IROs.
How long is the training?
This is a full day training event which will start promptly
at 10:00, with refreshments available from 09:30 and finishing at 16:30.
Expected outcomes
By the end of the course participants will have:
- Improved awareness of the legislation, research
and policy context
- Improved recognition of CSE and vulnerabilities
to becoming a victim
- Knowledge of and confidence in undertaking risk
assessments and safety plans
- Understanding of what CSE looks like in Cumbria
- Improved understanding of models of offending,
including grooming techniques of victims and others
- Knowledge of effective interventions with
children & young people
- Understanding of how to engage with victims,
parents and carers
- Knowledge of and confidence in applying
procedures, including what to do if you believe/know a child is a victim of CSE
- Improved understanding of the roles of different
agencies in managing referrals, risk and protection including SARC, Central Hub
and district community Police, 3rd sector, Sexual Health and Children’s
Services are understood

Venue: Newton Rigg College, Penrith, CA11 0AH. There
is free parking at the venue. Refreshments are provided but delegates need to
bring their own lunch, there is a canteen on site where meals can be purchased
